Testing Sub-workgroup
The Testing subwork group was formed as a part of the Transactions work group to consider issues identified to the work group pertaining to the general testing of the HIPAA transactions and code sets. The SWG meets very other Thursday at 11:00 EDT via a conference call.
The Testing SWG mission is to provide WEDI SNIP with recommendations to identified transaction testing issues and document industry best practices that may exist.
To get involved you should join the Testing Subworkgroup listserv. All meeting notices and minutes are distributed via the WEDI Testing list serve. You can also email either of the co-chairs, whose information can be found in the Testing Sub-Workgroup Roster.
Testing has developed a white paper on Transaction Compliance and Certification which describes the different types of compliance certification provided by certifying bodies. The paper lists those certifying organizations known to date. A second white paper entitled Business-to-Business Transaction Set Testing was also written to define the types of testing that should take place between business partners, to recommend the minimum testing required between business partners, and to suggest the best overall testing methods. Both of these papers are available on the WEDI website.
The SWG is also in the process of developing test case scenarios at a technical level (per each of the transaction implementation guides) and at a business level. Once developed these test datasets will be available for use by the industry.
In the future the SWG will be looking for early implementers of the transaction and code sets to further document best practices as well as lessons learned for the healthcare industry.
