CMS Convenes Forum to Dialogue with Industry on New Regulations and End-to-End Testing

August 24, 2012
WEDI is pleased to announce that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will conduct its first industry input forum as part of WEDI’s upcoming Fall Conference. The purpose of the forum is to gather healthcare industry input and feedback on a number of new regulations and to explore future opportunities to enhance standards testing.

The input forum will feature three topics:

1. Industry feedback on operating rules: eligibility, claim status, electronic funds transfer (EFT) and electronic remittance advice (ERA)
2. Overview of the Health Plan Identifier (HPID) regulation presented by CMS and an open industry dialogue around implementation challenges and possible implementation strategies
3. Develop industry consensus on end-to-end testing

“As an advisor to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, WEDI acts in the important role of helping to bridge the world of implementation and regulation,” said Devin Jopp, Ed.D., WEDI President & CEO. “We are thankful that CMS asked us to host this forum and believe these kinds of sessions are critical to gathering the concerns and innovation of the healthcare industry. This valuable input will be leveraged to enhance the quality of healthcare regulation.”

The CMS industry input forum occurs as a part of the WEDI Fall pre-conference, which takes place at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, Virginia on October 22, from 12:30pm to 5:00pm. The pre-conference occurs a day before the full WEDI Fall Conference, which runs October 23-25.
