Overcoming Barriers to the Broader Adoption of Telehealth

Note: This paper was written during 2019 and early 2020 and is a summary of WEDI’s fall 2018 Barriers to the Broader Adoption of Telehealth survey and the industry’s on telehealth adoption between fall 2018 and January 2020. The paper does not address new telehealth activity or changes in regulatory requirements as a result of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
The purpose of this paper is to provide a summary of the WEDI fall 2018 survey, explore the barriers identified, and discuss how to overcome them to achieve broader and greater adoption of telehealth. The paper, as with the survey, will focus on virtual visits and remote patient monitoring.
