Episode 177: A Conversation with CMS' Principal Deputy Administrator & Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Blum
December 7, 2021
WEDI is pleased to submit the following comments in response to the Interim Final Rule with Comment (IFR) entitled, “Requirements Related to Surprise Billing; Part II,” published in the Federal Register on October 7, 2021 (86 FR 55980). We believe that the No Surprises Act (“the Act”), signed into law as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, was an important step toward increased transparency and removing a significant financial challenge for patients. At the same time, the Act mandates industry actions that, if not appropriately implemented, will impose significant administrative burden on stakeholders with limited benefit to the patient.
