Episode 172: From Paper to Pixels: A Doctor's Perilous Journey through the Digital Healthcare Revolution

February 4, 2022

WEDI was formed in 1991 by then-Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Dr. Louis Sullivan to be a national, multi-stakeholder organization to serve as a voice for the health care industry to improve health information exchange to enhance the quality of care and reduce costs to the system. After 30 years, we continue to be an instrumental force in enhancing standards for data exchange, privacy, and security – driving down the costs associated with manual, paper-based transactions and increasing the confidentiality of patient information.

WEDI is grateful for the dedication of the volunteers from our member organizations of providers, hospitals, health systems, health plans, health information standards development organizations, health information technology vendors, and government entities. It is through our members that we are able to develop and present top-notch education and work products that address practical, real-world health information exchange challenges.
