Letter to CMS on the WEDI EFT/ERA Survey Results

WEDI developed the EFT/ERA survey questions instrument through our Remittance Advice and Payment Subworkgroup with CMS staff participating. The intent of the survey was to gather information on enhanced services and additional fees charged for receiving the ERA via the X12 835 transaction and/or payment made via EFT via the ACH Network. The focus of the survey was not on the standard telecommunication or banking fees, but fees above and beyond the usual and customary telecommunication or banking fees.
We are very supportive of transitioning the industry away from manual health care payments and remittance advice and we encourage impacted stakeholders to take full advantage of opportunities to further automate administrative transactions.
